IRMA, Wis (WSAU-Wheeler News) The state Corrections Department has released the names of two Lincoln Hills staffers who resigned soon after they were put on paid leave. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says Jeffrey Butler quit after slamming a metal door into a juvenile offender’s foot in late November — and James Johnson also resigned, but officials did not say why.
An agency spokeswoman would not release names and details of the other 14 Lincoln Hills staffers who are on leave, pending the results of a state investigation into alleged abuses of teen offenders at the Lincoln County institution. According to the Journal Sentinel, Governor Scott Walker says the costs of the paid leaves are being withheld because of an investigative request from the state Justice Department. But that agency says it never told the administration to withhold the data.
