APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Appleton police say a police dog helped them catch a gas station burglar early Tuesday morning.
Officers were called for an alarm around 2:45 a.m. to the Citgo gas station, 1717 W. College Avenue. When they arrived, officers saw a man near the cash register inside the closed business.
Police surrounded the area, and when the man came outside, he saw the cops and immediately went back inside.
The man was told several times that a police K-9 would be sent in after him if he didn’t come out. Eventually, the dog was sent in and the man came out and surrendered.
20-year-old Paul A. Rivera of Appleton was arrested and police are recommending charges of burglary to a building, resisting/obstructing, possession of marijuana and possession of non-narcotic drugs.
