OCONTO, WI (WTAQ) – Two students at Gillett High School have been formally charged with spiking their teacher’s drink in what they called a prank.
17-year-olds Gavin Gilbertson and Hailey Brock each face charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and placing foreign objects in edibles.
The pair are due in court for initial appearances December 10 and face more than 13 years in prison.
According to the criminal complaint, Gillett High School staff member Ray Johnson was feeling ill on October 20, complaining about burning in his throat and stomach. He went to the hospital to be checked out.
Police and school staff looked at the security video to figure out which students may have been in the classroom alone. They identified Gilbertson and Brock.
Brock confessed it was her idea to put white board cleaner in the drink as a prank.
“Brock stated that Gilbertson opened the bottle for her and she put one or two squirts from the spray bottle of the cleaner into the (soda) bottle,” the complaint reads.
Gilbertson also admitted to his role in the incident.
