JUNEAU, WI (WTAQ) – A Watertown man is accused of hitting a child on a bicycle last month, paying that child’s caretaker $30 not to call police, and then leaving.
Watertown police were called to the location October 7th. Officers say they could see the child had large cuts which were bleeding on both elbows and forearms, his nose and the rest of his face.
The child said he was trying to cross the street when he was hit.
His caretaker told investigators the driver, Michael Werner, had a strong smell of alcohol. When he was contacted, Werner told officers he gave the caretaker $30 to cover all damages and thought that was the end of things.
Werner makes a court appearance next month.
