OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – Arson charges have been filed against a man who recently increased his insurance coverage and tried to collect on it in a fire that destroyed an Oshkosh building.
Online court records indicate that a $7,500 cash bond was set Tuesday for 42-year-old Jeremy Neumann. He’s due back in court for a preliminary hearing on November 23.
The fire took place at a building on Bowen Street late on November 6. Neumann was arrested two days later.
According to the criminal complaint, Neumann operated a business there called Gambit McDermott LLC.
Authorities used his GPS data to tie Neumann to the scene. His clothing was also consistent with images captured on security cameras. Neumann denied going to the fire scene that night. He did file an insurance claim the next day.
Neumann contacted his insurance agency to increase his business liability coverage from $100,000 to $130,000 on October 28.
