GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Former Green Bay Packers general manager Ron Wolf will be honored at halftime of Sunday’s game between the Packers and Lions at Lambeau Field.
But before that, a new Packers Hall of Fame exhibit in Wolf’s honor was unveiled Friday morning.
“One of the real measures of a man is his legacy and as great as his legacy is with the Packers,” Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said per FOX 11. “I think when you look back and you look at the people that have worked for Ron, and what they’ve gone on and what they’ve accomplished, really speaks volumes.”
The Packers cut the ribbon on the new exhibit, honoring Wolf’s time as general manager. A job he doesn’t remember as a challenge, but an opportunity.
“I was at the point in my career where I felt I would never again have an opportunity to be a general manager,” Wolf said.
Wolf will receive his Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence, becoming the 5th member of the Class of 2015 to receive his Ring of Excellence thus far this season.
The Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence is one of three iconic symbols that represent the elite status of being a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The Packers will also unveil Wolf’s name on the Lambeau Field façade for his role in resurrecting the franchise from years of losing.
Wolf is responsible for hiring Mike Holmgren, trading for Brett Favre and signing free agent Reggie White and made it a popular place for players to want to come and play.
He helped the Packers win a Super Bowl and is among the 21 members of the Hall of Fame who have been enshrined as a contributor.
