CHARLOTTE, NC (WTAQ) – The Green Bay Packers nearly pulled off a miracle comeback, but Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis intercepted Aaron Rodgers on 4th-and-Goal to seal the Panthers 37-29 win Sunday.
The Panthers (8-0) led Green Bay 37-14 in the 4th quarter, until the Packers scored 15 quick points and got a controversial interception by Damarious Randall with 3:43 left. The Packers converted a 4th-and-5 on a 9-yard pass from Rodgers to Randall Cobb.
But on 4th-and-Goal from the Carolina 4 yard line, Rodgers could not find an open Cobb and was pressured into throwing the pick.
Rodgers finished the day 25-of-48 for 369 yards with 4 touchdown passes and the one interception. Cobb caught 4 passes for 99 yards and a score, while tight end Richard Rodgers caught 2 TD passes.
The Panthers dominated the Packers (6-2) early on, as quarterback Cam Newton led the way finishing 15-of-30 for 297 yards and 3 TD passes, along with 57 yards rushing and one score.
Green Bay turned the ball over twice and had 7 penalties for 87 yards.
