MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – A new FDA approved smartphone app is being test marketed in Madison area Walgreens.
The goal is to provide peace of mind to heart patients worried about their heart’s rhythm.
Alive Cor’s electrocardiogram (ECG) picks up abnormal heart rhythms using the same technology hospitals use to perform the tests.
Patient Steve Danen says he had surgery for atrial fibrilliation and now keeps daily tabs on his heart’s health. After installing the app, he attaches the metal probes to his iPhone and can get a reading in 30 seconds or less.
If one’s heart is out of rhythm, the app advises the user whether or not to seek immediate care.
The device costs around $70.
