GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – One of two teenagers accused of setting an apartment fire in Green Bay pled no contest to several charges on Wednesday.
18-year-old Jordan Gardner-Shedrick entered that plea to counts of arson, recklessly endangering safety and burglary as part of a plea deal. Two other counts were dismissed, and he’s due to be sentenced December 4.
According to court documents, Gardner-Shedrick and 18-year-old Jesse Jones went to the Danz Avenue apartment building on April 27 to confront a rival gang member.
They found flammable spray cans in the basement, soaked a rag and started it on fire. No one was hurt, but more than 60 people were burned out of their homes.
Prosecutors are asking for up to 10 years in prison for Gardner-Shedrick, while the defense will argue for anything less than that.
Jones, meantime, is set to go on trial November 4.
