MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – Wisconsin senators are scheduled to vote Tuesday on a bill to make “upskirting” a felony.
Those convicted of taking photos under a person’s clothing without the victim knowing it could be sent to prison for three-and-a-half years, and fined up to $10,000.
The Assembly passed the bill on a voice vote in January. Senate passage will send the measure to Governor Scott Walker.
Assembly Democrat Melissa Sargent of Madison says it’s needed after a man who took numerous “upskirt” photos was convicted of as little as misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Also Tuesday, the Senate is scheduled to act on a bill to let driver education students take classroom instruction online. The Assembly okayed the idea in April.
Senators will also be asked confirm ex-banking executive Mark Hogan as the new head of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
