SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ) – Residents are back in their homes in Shawano, after an oxygen leak at the city’s former hospital.
A neighborhood around the old Shawano Medical Center was evacuated just after 10 p.m. Sunday, when a large oxygen storage tank began leaking.
Authorities say they played it safe until the leak could be stopped. The evacuation lasted around 45 minutes.
The cause of the leak remains under investigation. There was no impact on hospital operations at the 84-year-old building.
The facility recently moved to a new $50 million location.
