WAUSAUKEE, WI (WTAQ) – Students at Wausaukee schools are back in class following the finding of a bomb threat which caused an evacuation.
School leaders say some students found the threat written on a bathroom stall around 11:45 a.m. Monday.
At that point, the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department was called in to search the school and a bomb-sniffing dog was called in from Green Bay.
During the search, students were kept on the football field. Because of the temperatures, students were given thermal blankets while buses were available for students to keep warm.
The K-9 arrived at 1:30 p.m. and the school was cleared within 15 minutes. Elementary students were allowed back inside the building at 1:48 p.m. and all students returned by 2 p.m.
School district officials are offering a $100 reward for information leading to the person responsible for making the threat.
School leaders say time may be added at the end of the school year if there are more incidents that result in the loss of instructional time.
