GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The Green Bay Area School District says it has a confirmed case of viral meningitis in a student at the Early Learning Center at 312 Victoria Street.
On Tuesday, district officials sent out notices to parents of students at the ELC, Danz, Sullivan and Eisenhower schools. While there is only the one confirmed case, they want to inform more parents due to the chance the student at the ELC has siblings at one of the other schools.
Cleaning crews were at the ELC Tuesday night, but the facility did not close.
Letters will also go home to all students in the district Wednesday to explain the difference between viral meningitis and the more serious bacterial meningitis.
Tuesday, officials in the Coleman School District canceled classes after an elementary school student was suspected of having viral meningitis.
Last week, a kindergarten student at Trinity Lutheran School in Green Bay died of complications from viral meningitis.
