GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Legendary quarterback Bart Starr’s son says he almost died of an infection a few weeks ago.
Bart Starr Jr. says his father is recovering and hopes to make it back to Lambeau Field for the Thanksgiving Day game.
He says his father is sorry to miss Sunday’s game where his Super Bowl I teammates will be honored.
Starr suffered a series of health complications in the last year, including several strokes. That prevented him from attending Brett Favre’s Packers Hall of Fame induction in July, but he did appear in a video tribute to Favre.
