APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – In the wake of recent law enforcement officer killings in Illinois and Texas, Appleton Police Chief Todd Thomas has authorized the wearing of blue and black ribbons during the month of September.
The ribbons represent the department’s commitment to citizens of the community and to fellow officers in the Valley, statewide and around the nation.
They also honor those who have died protecting the lives of others.
In addition, the department is supplying Concerns of Police Survivors, or C.O.P.S., ribbons in their lobby for anyone wishing to show support for law enforcement.
