DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) – Police in De Pere have released a composite sketch of the suspect in an attempted child abduction.
On Wednesday, police say a 14-year-old girl was walking in the 1700 block of Merrill Street near the high school when a man tried to get her into his vehicle.
The girl was not hurt and ran inside the school to notify officials.
She described the man as 60 to 65-years-old with white hair, scruffy beard, dirty baseball cap and a raspy voice. He was driving an older model tan/champagne colored single cab open bed truck, with heavy rust around the driver-side wheel wells.
Police also say several calls from residents indicate they’ve seen a man with a similar description near a De Pere elementary school.
Authorities got reports of a man with a similar description and vehicle near Susan Altmayer School. Some of the calls said they saw the man photographing children and the school.
