Far Hills, NJ (WNFL) – A stellar performance at the British Open has led Wisconsin native Jordan Niebrugge to his second straight Walker Cup. The top amateur players from the U-S will face Great Britain’s leading amateurs on September 12th-and-13th in Lancashire England. The 22-year-old Niebrugge, of Mequon, was among five U-S players named yesterday by the USGA’s international team selection committee. Five other Americans were chosen earlier. In July, Niebrugge had the lowest score by an amateur in the British Open’s 144-year history. He tied for sixth in the year’s third major, at 11-under-par 277. Niebrugge was also part of the U-S Walker Cup squad in 2013. He’s only the second Wisconsin golfer to compete in the event. Ray Billows of Racine played in 1938-and-’49.
