SAUK COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – The National Weather Service said a funnel cloud may have touched down at the Lone Rock Airport in Sauk County Monday evening.
Winds there hit 61 miles an hour around 6:30 p.m. Authorities said seven homes were damaged in Lone Rock, and two in nearby Richland Center.
It was part of a second bout of severe weather that started hitting much of Wisconsin late Sunday night.
Baseball-sized hail fell near Osseo, where it cracked skylights at a home. Smaller hail was reported in Sauk, Buffalo, Trempealeau, Monroe, Vernon, and Jackson counties among other places.
In the La Crosse area, high winds blew a 10-foot trailer off Highway 16. Tree damage was reported in Dane, Columbia, Walworth, Walworth, and Waukesha counties.
Wausau, Green Bay, and Rhinelander set new rainfall records for the date. Wausau had 1.43 inches, breaking the old mark set in 1919.
