GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Dawn’s early light could be exposing some heavy storm damage throughout Wisconsin.
Most of the Badger State had strong windstorms overnight, with gusts up to 68 miles an hour near Spring Green in Sauk County.
Widespread tree damage was reported in a number of areas, and a tree fell onto a house in Hobart near Green Bay.
Part of a roof was blown down near Hortonville. All of Kimberly in the Fox Valley was without power for a time Monday morning — as were thousands of people in Appleton.
The state’s five largest utilities reported a total of over 62,000 electric customers in the dark as of 6:30 a.m. — including 31,000 We Energies’ customers in the Appleton, Fond du Lac, and Kenosha-Racine regions.
The National Weather Service said a low pressure system collided with warm air, thus producing the storms.
