WASHINGTON D.C. (WTAQ) – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will review the status of five amphibian and reptile species, to determine if they should be protected under the Endangered Species’ Act.
The Blanding’s Turtle, which is found in Wisconsin, will be among those studied.
The turtle — which occupies ponds, swamps, and slow moving streams — is found in the Midwest and Northeastern U.S.
Officials plan to study 20 species. When that’s done, the agency will decide whether to propose endangered or threatened classifications for the species.
The public is being asked to comment through August 31st, online at Regulations.Gov.
