BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis (WSAU-Wheeler News) A woman died over the weekend during scuba-diving exercises in Wisconsin’s deepest inland lake. Jackson County sheriff’s deputies were called to Lake Wazee near Black River Falls on Saturday, after being told about an unresponsive diver. A 54-year-old woman stopped breathing as the exercises took place. She was brought to the surface, where rescuers tried resuscitating her. She was taken to a nearby medical unit, where she later died.
Her name was not immediately released, and it was not disclosed how deep she was when she was pulled out.
Lake Wazee has a maximum depth of over 350-feet.
