Madison, WI (WTAQ) – Governor Scott Walker told potential campaign donors today (FRI) he’s still praying over whether to run for the presidency — but he believes he’s “uniquely qualified” to lead the nation.
The Republican Walker sent out a fund-raising e-mail in advance of his speech tomorrow to the Faith-and-Freedom Coaliton’s Road-to-Majority policy conference in Washington.
The governor has spent months raising money, building a campaign network, traveling to various G-O-P functions around the country, and boning up on foreign affairs.
Walker said last November he would only run if he felt called to do so. His e-mail asked supporters if he should run, and that he’s been praying about it for a long time.
Walker also took indirect swipes at Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and G-O-P candidate Jeb Bush, writing that he “didn’t inherit fame or fortune … and I don’t think being president is by birthright.”
Also tomorrow (SAT, Walker is expected to attend the Northeast Republican Leadership Conference in Philadelphia.
