GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Local runners and walkers are getting ready to kick it into high gear for this Saturday’s 39th Belllin Run….and a big part of the participation is the numbers from the corporate world.
Like the race itself, the “Corporate Challenge” has been growing right along with the Bellin Run.
Assistant race director Linda Maxwell says they started with 28 companies…..now, there’s more than 270 taking part.
Maxwell says that pencils out to about 7 thousand runners and walkers who’ve signed on through work.
The Bellin Run works through corporate leaders who talk up the race and get employees excited and involved.
Maxwell says the beauty of it, and a part of the growing numbers, is the corporate challenge isn’t about beating another company’s time…..it’s just getting employees, no matter the skill level, to join in.
Once people realize it’s not a competition with other runners and the time clock, she says the average person is more apt to sign on.
The bottom line, in addition to healthier employees, is a reduction in company paid insurance rates. Corporate Challenge participants also have speciality apparel, training schedules, team photos and more.
