UW-Lacrosse was three outs away from forcing a third and decisive game in the NCAA Division III World Series at Fox Cities Stadium. The Eagles dropped game one in the best of three series to SUNY-Cortland Tuesday night and held a 2-1 lead in the 9th inning in game two Wednesday afternoon. That’s when Cortland erupted for five runs in the top of the 9th for a 6-2 victory, capping a 45-4 season with their first ever NCAA baseball title. LaCrosse finished the season 36-16.
