GRESHAM, Wis. (WSAU) — A special bank account has been set up for the family of a Shawano County Highway Department worker that was killed on the job Tuesday.
Sheriff Adam Bieber says he’s known 30-year-old Derek Stempa for about 10 years. Stempa was flagging traffic in the work zone at Highway 47 and County Highway G just north of Gresham when 68-year-old Dennis St. John from Hurley drove into him with his minivan.
Stempa leaves behind his wife Heather, and two very young children.
Bieber says people wishing to donate to help the family can do so at any Capital Credit Union location. Donors should say it’s for the Fund for Heather Stempa. Any questions about how to donate can be directed to the credit union at 800-728-4294.
