MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – Two Madison women told police they had unwanted sexual contact over the weekend by drivers of the Uber ride-sharing service.
That’s got Democrats demanding that Governor Scott Walker veto the bill which makes it easier for companies like Uber to operate statewide.
In a letter to the Republican Walker, 11 Dane County Democrats asked that Walker veto new regulations for firms like Uber. Both houses approved them on bipartisan voice votes earlier this month.
The Democrats claim that Madison Police asked Uber for information about the drivers in both sexual contact incidents — and the company said it would not provide the information without a subpoena or warrant.
The lawmakers said the bill does not have enough local oversight of the companies.
