The reeling Milwaukee Brewers found another way to lose Wednesday night. The Cincinnati Reds handed the Crew their 8th consecutive loss 2-1, scoring the go ahead run in the top of the ninth inning on a wild pitch. Both teams found the plate in the first. Joey Votto singled home Billy Hamiton off Jimmy Nelson for the lead but Adam Lind answered with an RBI in the bottom of the first against Johnny Cueto. Both starters then settled in for a pitcher’s duel. Nelson got through eight innings allowing just that run on only three hits. Cueto allowed five hits in his eight innings. Milwaukee had a shot at the lead in the bottom of the 8th when Logan Schafer doubled to lead off. Jean Segura bunted him to third but Ryan Braun and Aramis Ramirez couldn’t bring him home. Closer Francisco Rodriguez came on in the ninth for the Brewers and the speedy Hamilton reached. Another Votto single sent Hamilton to third and that’s when Rodriguez uncorked the wild pitch to allow Hamilton to score. Aroldis Chapman set down the Brewers in order in the ninth for the save. The Brewers (2-13) will try to avoid the sweep sending Kyle Lohse to the mound in the series finale Thursday afternoon. Pre-game coverage begins at 12:05 PM on WTAQ.
