(WNFL)- The Green Bay Packers will host their first Thanksgiving game since 1923, when they play the Chicago Bears the night of November 26th. That’s according to the NFL schedule released last night. Numerous reports say the Packers will honor Brett Favre on the holiday, by unveiling his Number-Four on the green facade around the seating area of Lambeau Field. The team has not confirmed Favre’s appearance yet, but coach Mike McCarthy said the game itself will make it a “special night.” NBC will televise it. It’s one of five night contests on Green Bay’s 16-game schedule including back-to-back Thursdays, as the Pack plays at Detroit on December third the week after Thanksgiving. That’s Green Bay’s CBS/NFL Network game. Each team gets one of those. The Packers’ first night game is on Sunday, September 20th in Week Two, when NBC shows the rematch of the Packers’ NFC Championship Game loss to Seattle. This one will be at Lambeau. The other Green Bay night games are set for Sunday November first at Denver, and a Monday Night home contest September 28th against Kansas City. Flexible scheduling begins after Week-Five, so all this can change. The Packers will open their season at Chicago on September 13th one of six noon contests on the schedule. The Pack has back-to-back home games in mid-October against Saint Louis and San Diego before their bye October 25th during Week-Seven. Dallas returns to Lambeau December 13th. Green Bay will close its regular season January third at home against Minnesota.
