Madison, WI (WTAQ) – Wisconsin law enforcement agencies that buy and use military equipment would be under a lot more scrutiny, under a state budget proposal endorsed Friday.
The Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee voted unanimously to add an item to the next state budget, after police agencies stepped up their purchases in recent years of surplus military items.
Some have loaded up on assault rifles, armored mine-resistant vehicles, and even a grenade launcher in one instance.
