(WNFL)- The Wisconsin Badgers are losing Sam Dekker. The junior forward said today he will give up his final year of college eligibility, and join the NBA Draft in late June. In a statement issued by the UW, Dekker said his three years with the Badgers have been the “best (and) most memorable” of his life. He said it was “dream come true” to wear his home state’s name across his chest. Dekker said he made “lots of thoughts and prayers” before deciding to leave the only state in which he has called home. After a standout career at Sheboygan Lutheran High School, Dekker became only the eighth in Badgers history to amass 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in his first three seasons. He started 81 games and appeared in 113, and is 15th in school history with 1,363 career points. Dekker appeared in two straight Final Fours and helped lead Wisconsin to its first national championship game in 74 years.
