(WNFL)- Chris Borland, the ex-Wisconsin linebacker who retired after just one season in the NFL says he’ll give three-fourths of his signing bonus back to the 49ers. On CBS’s “Face the Nation” yesterday, Borland said he’s been accused of making a “cash grab” by playing just one season in the pros and he’ll only take the money he earned. Borland received a $617,000 signing bonus from the 49ers when they signed him to a four year deal. He’ll return 463,000 of it. Borland shocked the league when he said he would retire in order to maintain his long term health. Including his signing bonus, San Francisco paid him a total of just over $1,037,000.
