GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The Green Bay Packers have lost corner Davon House to free agency, but they’ll apparently keep starting right tackle Bryan Bulaga.
NFL Network was the first to report both moves late Tuesday morning, but there was no immediate word on what Bulaga’s deal might include.
House agreed to a 4-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He’ll reportedly get $6.25 million a year, including $10 million in guaranteed money. The deal could not be made official until at least 3 p.m. Tuesday, when free agents can start signing contracts with new teams.
In addition, the Packers reportedly submitted a right of refusal offer to safety Sean Richardson for just over $1.5 million next season. The offer allows the Packers to match proposals from other teams for Richardson, who’s a restricted free agent.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said the Packers were willing to pay close to what Jacksonville offered — but with only about half the guaranteed money.
House will be reunited with Jaguars’ assistants DeWayne Walker and Mike Rutenberg, who coached him in college at New Mexico State.
House made it clear he wanted to be a starter, which could have been possible in Green Bay if Tramon Williams was to go elsewhere. Now, the Packers might have to make a last minute push to keep Williams, who has attracted interest from Seattle and Philadelphia.
The 25-year-old House started 14 games for the Packers over four seasons, with two sacks, two interceptions, and 98 tackles in 40 games. House had 10 pass break-ups in each of the last two years, despite playing in less than half of Green Bay’s defensive snaps.
