WASHINGTON D.C. (WTAQ) – Bills have been introduced in Congress that could restore Wisconsin’s wolf hunt — and let farmers once again kill wolves which hurt their crops and livestock.
House Republican Reid Ribble of Sherwood and Minnesota Representative John Kline have introduced bills to nullify a pair of decisions from federal judges last year.
They includes the one from Washington district judge Beryl Howell in December, which restored grey wolves to their endangered status in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan.
The other proposal seeks to strike down a court ruling from last September involving wolves in Wyoming.
Both rulings took away the states’ authority to manage their own wolf populations — including wolf hunts that went on for three seasons in Wisconsin before being snuffed out.
