MADISON, Wis (WSAU-Wheeler News) A contracted employee is accused of stealing up to 17 laptop computers from a state government agency. 27-year old Shawn Lewis of Madison is charged in Dane County with felony theft and seven misdemeanors. Prosecutors said Lewis was working as a computer repairman when he took laptops from the state Department of Workforce Development from last April through September.
The Wisconsin State Journal said Lewis allegedly sold some of the machines at pawn shops and on Craigslist. One stolen computer was said to be traded for heroin. Online court records did not list the new charges as of early this morning. They showed that Lewis had been wanted on a warrant issued two weeks ago for forgery and identity theft.
