Washington D. C. (WTAQ) – U-S Senate Democrat Tammy Baldwin denies that her office took no action when it first learned last year about excessive painkillers prescribed at the V-A Medical Center in Tomah.
The Gannett News Service says Baldwin received an inspector general’s report last August which detailed high amounts of opiates given to hospitalized veterans.
However, Gannett said a whistle-blower at Tomah learned last November that Baldwin did not act on the report despite being the only lawmaker to have it for months.
The whistle-blower repeatedly asked the senator to make the problem public, and take it to a Senate veterans’ panel.
