FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – A mother accused of beating and starving two of her children has pled no contest to child abuse charges.
In Fond du Lac County court Monday, 8 other counts against Jeana Riehl were dismissed as part of a plea deal. Some of those charges can be considered at her March 12 sentencing, according to online court records.
Riehl’s husband, Troy Riehl, is facing similar charges and has a plea hearing scheduled for January 13. His jury trial is set for May 11.
According to court documents, Jeana Riehl would beat her 2 adopted children with things like a horse whip, rolling pins and hunting arrows. The beatings allegedly left bruises and drew blood.
The children were 11 and 12-year-old boys adopted from Africa.
Riehl starved the kids and locked them in rooms for days on end, according to the criminal complaint. They also reveal that Troy Riehl witnessed the abuse, but never reported it.
