(WNFL) – The Sturgeon Bay Clippers defeated Northland Pines 5-1 in Thursday afternoon’s second WIAA Division 4 state semifinal soccer match.
The victory advances Sturgeon Bay to Saturday’s championship match against The Prairie School.
After suffering an own goal early in the match, the Clippers got rolling, tying the game in the 30th minute on a goal by Adison Benzinger.
The winning goal came in the 37th minute on a goals by the Clippers’ Carson Dvorak.
Spencer Hubbard scored a pair of second half goals for Sturgeon Bay with D.J. Lenius also scoring.
C.J. Fairchild had two assists for Sturgeon Bay with Porter Gigstead and Dvorak also notching assists.
Sturgeon Bay goalie Joe Wind faced only three shots and had one save.
Northland Pines goalie Colby Kruse had six saves.
Shorewood 2, Seymour 1
The Greyhounds snapped a 1-1 score in the 52nd minute when Austin Gayle scored on an indirect kick from five yards out.
It was Gayle’s 41st goal of the season.
Shorewood had taken a 1-0 lead in the 45th minute on a goal by Gayle when he beat the defender and ripped a shot in from 32 yards out to the far post.
Less than five minutes later, Pace Jefferson evened the score for Seymour when he punched in a rebound from four yards out.
Ben Lichtenstein had five saves for Shorewood which was outshot by Seymour 17-14.
Tyler VandeCorput had five saves for Seymour.

Division 3
McFarland 7, Rice Lake 2
Ethan Nichols scored twice in the first half to put McFarland out in front with Zach Nichols adding two second half goals and Jake Sampons, Grant Newcomer and Jack Bartzen scoring in the second half to complete the route.
Zach Holstrom had six saves for Rice Lake which got its goals from Louis Larson and Parker Bowman.
Matt Schutt had two saves for McFarland which outshot Rice Lake 21-5.
Division 4
The Prairie School 6, Lake Mills 0
The Prairie School scored six goals in the second half en rout to a win over Lake Mills in the first WIAA Division 4 state soccer semifinal.
Max Yde had three goals for the Prairie Hawks with Jason Frosch adding two goals. Caden Holum, Cameron McPhee also scored with a team goal also scored.
Luis Garduno had four assists for The Prairie School.
Devin Stoltenberg had four saves for The Prairie School.
Connor Dean had nine saves for Lake Mills.
