ST PAUL, Minn (WSAU-Wheeler News) An energy firm accuses Minnesota regulators of “unlawful” procedures in holding up approval of a new crude oil pipeline from North Dakota to Superior.
In a regulatory filing, Enbridge Energy says the new Sandpiper line would be delayed another 4 to 6 months. That’s because the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission wants a final environmental review to be performed before the panel considers a route for the new line. The Minneapolis Star Tribune says Enbridge cites 17 other projects in which permit reviews did not have to wait until environmental factors were identified. Enbridge says the delay means it would have to wait four years for an answer, after filing its application for the $2.6-billion dollar pipeline from the Baaken oil fields to the Enbridge terminal in northwest Wisconsin.
