The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association has come up with a plan that would drastically alter conference alignment across the state.
The WFCA is proposing a football only realignment that would place all 11 player schools into uniform conferences made up mostly of 8 team leagues.
The Fox River Classic Conference would be split into two divisions with one comprised of Green Bay Preble, Green Bay Southwest, Bay Port, Pulaski, Ashwaubenon with Green Bay East and West moving back into the FRCC from the Bay Conference. The second division would consist of De Pere, Notre Dame, Manitowoc, Sheboygan North and South with Menasha and West De Pere also coming over from the Bay Conference.
Fox Valley Lutheran and Marinette would leave the Northeast Conference to the Bay.
The Valley Football Association would go from its current three-division format to just two with VFA1 including Neenah, Hortonville, Wausau East and West, Wisconsin Rapids, D.C. Everest, Stevens Point and Marshfield. VFA2 would consist of Appleton North, Appleton East, Appleton West, Oshkosh West, Oshkosh North, Fond du Lac, Kimberly and Kaukauna.
Several other conferences statewide would be impacted.
The W.I.A.A. will review the plan at area meetings this fall before it’s presented to the full Board of Control for a vote. If implemented, the WFCA plan would take effect for the 2020 season.
