ELEVA-STRUM, WI (WSAU) A group of community members is petitioning for the resignation of a local school board president. Community members voiced their concerns last night at the Eleva-Strum school board meeting about the Lois Havenor’s actions concerning a school employee.
The petitioners say Havenor has abused her power, acting without the board’s consent and intimidated school workers. A group of parents claims that Havenor retaliated against a special-ed teacher who complained about her case load. Protesters claim the letter should have been shared with the rest of the school board. Instead Havenor went directly to the superintendent. The teacher was eventually dismissed.
It takes just over 400 signatures to trigger a recall election. Several teachers are also involved in the recall effort.
