CURTISS, WI (WSAU) – Mike McCabe is running for governor next year. The political activist announced his bid yesterday at a farm in Curtiss in Clark County.
McCabe is the former head of the campaign finance watchdog Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. He said he is a liberal, and not a member of a formal political party. He says the democrat party more closely identifies with his beliefs.
McCabe founded the nonprofit group Blue Jean Nation in 2015 in an effort to restructure the priorities of the country’s political parties. McCabe said he decided to enter the race a few months ago, after he started hearing from people all over the state who he said “drafted” him to run, which included a petition on change.org and an open letter urging him to enter the race. He said he now realizes that his supporters would not take ‘no’ for an answer.
