MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – An Oshkosh lawmaker has announced his intentions to run for a leadership post.
Democratic Representative Gordon Hintz is interested in becoming the next Assembly Minority Leader.
Current leader Peter Barca announced Thursday he is resigning from the post at the end of the month, after serving in that capacity since 2011.
Some of Barca’s colleagues are reportedly upset that he sided with Republicans in voting in favor of a proposed $3,000,000,000 incentive package to help Foxconn build a manufacturing facility in southeast Wisconsin, which could be built in Barca’s Kenosha County home.
Hintz is the first to express interest in the position.
The 43-year-old was first elected to the serve in Madison in 2006 and is one of two Democrats on the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee.
