GRANTSBURG, WI (WSAU) – A man is accused of making a shooting threat that shut down two schools in Grantsburg. Jacob Wicklund of Siren was arrested Tuesday and charged with terrorist threats and disorderly conduct.
The Burnett County Sheriff’s Office says the 19-year-old threatened to carry out a school shooting in a Facebook post. The post said, in part: “This is the day I’ve decided to become a school shooter.” Another on-line message said “You… will get the justice you deserve. I will as well, but I’ll tell you now – it’s not jail.”
The suspect’s stepfather contacted police when he saw the messages. He said Wicklund is bi-polar and suffers from substance abuse problems.
Public schools in Grantsburg were closed Tuesday and two other districts were put on lockdown.
