It was a rise from first half ashes for the Green Bay Phoenix at the Resch Center Tuesday night as they rallied from a 10 point halftime deficit to beat a much improved Northern Kentucky team 80-71 for it’s sixth consecutive victory.
Northern Kentucky came in 12-6 and 3-1 in Horizon League play and the Norse kept Green Bay scoreless for over five minutes in building a 42-32 lead at the break. The lead grew to 15 at 49-34 early in the second half when a Phoenix senior took the bull by the horns.
Kenneth Lowe scored eight straight points to spark the rally and he kept up the energy level on the defensive end with five rebounds, four blocked shots and three steals.
Outside shots started falling as Warren Jones hit a long three from the top and after a steal and layup, Green Bay finally pushed in front 53-52.
Jamar Hurdle led the scoring with 15, Charles Cooper added 13 to match Lowe’s total and Khalil Small chipped in with a dozen as the Phoenix improved to 10-6 overall and a still perfect 4-0 in conference play.
Green Bay will host Wright State at the Resch Center on Thursday night.
