The Green Bay Packers on Tuesday waived defensive back Makinton Dorleant after he failed his physical. The undrafted rookie free agent got hurt in training camp last summer and spent the first 11 weeks on injured reserve. He was brought on to the active roster in December and appeared in four games before injuring his knee against the Detroit Lions on January first in the regular season finale.
Dorleant was also involved in a disturbance on March 26 in Cedar Falls, Iowa where he received three citations from police. That case is still pending.
The departure continues an overhaul of the Packers’ secondary position after the team decided to release Sam Shields after a series of concussions, Micah Hyde signed a free agent deal with Buffalo and the team re-signed Davon House.
The team opens the off-season individual workout program next Tuesday.
