FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – During a court appearance on Tuesday, Fond du Lac County Judge Gary Sharpe announced he would recuse himself from the Dennis Brantner case.
The hearing was to discuss the possibility of a retrial for the 62-year-old Brantner, who was charged with first-degree murder in the 1990 death of Berit Beck.
Earlier this year, a hung jury was declared after Brantner’s initial trial.
Beck was traveling from her home in Sturtevant to Appleton for a work seminar when she disappeared. Her van was found a few days later, and her body was later found in a ditch in Fond du Lac County.
