HAZELHURST, WI (WSAU) — Re-elected State Senator Tom Tiffany is refocusing on delisting the wolf from the endangered species list, and he’s looking for help from an unexpected source.
The Republican TIffany and State Representative Adam Jarchow, also a Republican, believe the increased wolf population poses a risk to wildlife, livestock, and domesticated animals. In a letter, the pair calls on Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin to support legislation delisting the grey wolf.
In the letter, Tiffany says,”We understand this is an uncomfortable issue for Senator Baldwin because of her home in Madison. However, she was elected to represent the entire state, and we encourage her to take a bold step to heed the will of the people who are most affected by the runaway wolf population– rural Wisconsinites.”
Tiffany also claimed that the 200 people that attended the Great Lakes Wolf Summit in September prove that this is a bi-partisan issue. Senator Ron Johnson has co-authored legislation to return control of the wolf population to the states in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, and Wyoming.
