GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A group who normally honors WWII veterans is taking on a different role this summer.
Old Glory Honor Flight of Northeast Wisconsin is recognizing veterans who have served in Middle East conflicts.
“Operation at Ease 2016” is set to take place Saturday, July 23rd.
Spokesman Josh McFaul says they’re looking for around 120 participants.
“We’ll be traveling via motor coach bus to Neillsville to The Highgrounds (Highground Veterans Memorial Park) there, and once we arrive at The Highgrounds, the wall of remembrance will be there for the veterans to see.”
McFaul says they will also participate in the dedication ceremonies for the new Persian Gulf Tribute Memorial.
“We are looking to take veterans who have served in Operation New Dawn, Operations Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Desert Storm or Desert Shield.”
Veterans will arrive in Neillsville at 1 p.m. and return to Appleton around 11:30 p.m. that day. If you would like more information on the trip or to apply, go to www.oldgloryhonorflight.org.
