WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WTAQ) – No criminal charges will be filed against a 31-year-old driver who hit an Amish buggy, killing a man and his son.
Wood County prosecutors say Seth Nelson of Necedah will get a civil citation for his first drunk driving offense.
Authorities say Nelson’s pick-up truck rear-ended an Amish buggy the night of November 20th on County Trunk HH near Vesper.
The buggy driver, 31-year-old Christian Kempf of Vepser, was killed, and his 10-year-old son Melvin died 11 days later.
District Attorney Craig Lambert says the crash resulted from a “limited visibility of the wagon,” and it would have happened regardless of Nelson’s level of impairment.
