WEST BEND, WI (WTAQ) – Sheriff’s deputies are trying to figure out why a motorist struck and killed a man who was putting gas in his disabled vehicle along a roadside.
Washington County authorities say drugs and alcohol were not apparent factors in Monday’s incident in the northbound lanes of Highway 45 in West Bend.
Investigators say the driver, a 34-year-old Palmyra man, drove over a fog-line before hitting the 18-year-old West Bend man who was gassing up his stuck vehicle.
The victim’s name was not immediately released.
The driver was not hurt.
